In July and August 2014, young people in Norwich, Thetford and King’s Lynn answered the call of Norfolk County Council Library and Information Service and joined us on a unique challenge to illuminate their local Norfolk heritage through animation. Working under the guidance of three dynamic, Norwich based animators, the three groups created some brilliant imaginative responses to their research and investigation, using stop motion animation to bring their original art work to life.

The three completed animations were shown publicly for one week on the giant Fusion Cinema screen at the Forum in Norwich, and drew an audience of 431 viewers. There was also a special celebratory event on Saturday 29 November from 2.30-3.30pm, giving everyone the opportunity to meet the young animators and discuss their experience.

Over the course of the project, the groups documented their work online and in individual portfolios, which together with their films have successfully earned them their Bronze Arts Award – congratulations to all the young animators.
